Q. What are your roles at the practice?
A. Both of us are ChiropracTORs and adjust full time. We have been open long enough where we have been able to delegate many tasks to our team. Besides adjusting Dr. Garett handles all of the behind the scenes tasks. Some of the tasks include running payroll, handling all bills inside and outside of the practice, and handling any team matters such as reviews, internal issues, or bonuses. Dr. Haley handles the daily flow of the practice, creating all the care plans, working up x-rays, and constant communication with the team on items that need to be updated, re-vamped, where there are holes and where we need to tighten the ship, etc.
Q. How long have you been open?
A. 14 years, Pathfinder Chiropractic in Durango 3.5 years
Q. How many patients do you see per week?
A. 450+ and 670 Active Practice members. Over half of our practice is wellness care and growing!
Q. Would you like to share anything about your practice adventure?
A. Opening our practice (as many know) came with a few obstacles. A couple of hiccups include our landlord dying in the middle of negotiations, all our subcontractors going elk hunting and our buildout getting pushed back even with us framing and painting. This led to us pushing back 250+ new patients on the books back twice. Our x-ray machine literally blew up upon assembly, our ribbon cutting we had wet drywall and zero electricity, etc. It has been a journey, however we just kept our heads down and kept laughter in our lives. We built our team up and they have been knocking out goals. The year 2020 has a rough start. Practices in the state of Colorado had to close for 5 weeks, but even with this our team far exceeded the goals we made in 2019 so we took them and their spouses to Mexico for a vacation and celebration of all they have achieved. We will see where they chose to go next…!
Q. What have you learned in your journey? A. Practice and success really comes down to doing the little things right consistently and daily. Systems and procedures really do work which allows you to focus your time on the most important task, taking care of people. Take care of them well, love them well and the business will take care of itself. Our team is our family, we will do anything to make sure they are grounded and have their needs taken care of. They truly make the office work and are the heart of Pathfinder and the Durango Community. Q. Where can we find out more about you?
Q. How has AMPED helped you?
A. AMPED provided systems to open up on a budget and a timeline. The connection we have made with Doctors around the country is astonishing. This fall we will be hosting our 8th Chiropractic Student intern, which is incredible, but we are also looking for an Associate within the AMPED community. Many of these interns have come directly from the AMPED community or connections within AMPED. We love building others up but we couldn’t have done it without being shown how to do it effectively. Q. What advice do you have for students?
A. Do the Jumpstart Program. Follow it and ask others for help if confused or stuck. School can consume one’s mind, however, you have to prepare for the future before you graduate. Practice with others like-minded but also be bold and brave to bring those up who could benefit from a community and program for their future. Some people do have preconceived ideas on what something is before they actually give it a shot. Find creative ways to explain the importance of AMPED and how it relates to their well-being and future.
Q. What advice do you have for fellow doctors?
A. No matter what stage in practice you are in there is always more to learn and improve on. We upgrade our paperwork, themes, and systems multiple times per year because we are growing and things do have to change to make the flow better in the office and for the team. Keep picking others brains smarter than yours and that goes for practice, but also personal life as well. We feel having a very well-rounded work and life balance is essential to success. Work hard during the week but also make sure you are doing things that you enjoy and love to fill up your cup so you can serve others. You cannot serve from a tired, fatigued and empty cup.
Q. What would you say to anyone considering joining AMPED?
A. If you want to be successful out of the gates, you need to be a part of some type of community. AMPED has the best program for doing this. It would be wise and a financially smart decision to JUST DO IT. Q. Anything else you’d like to add? A. AMPED has also provided us the opportunity to work and build connections with multiple Chiropractors around the globe. From repairing Integrators® with P2 Restoration, LLC to providing the highest level of security and operations with Adjust IT, LLC.
