Q. What are your roles at the practice? What do you each focus on?
A.We both use the Gonstead System to adjust our practice members. Dr. Vin has a diplomate in pediatric chiropractic from the ICA and is finishing his ICPA test now. He sees all the children in our office. I work with adults with a focus on women and pre-conception health. We also just hired our first associate, the amazing Dr. Craig Bryan, a Sherman grad. Together we lead a team of four CA’s.
Q. How long have you been open?
A.5 years in March!
Q. How many patients do you see per week?
A. Around 300 and growing!
Q. What would you share with us about your practice adventure?
A. We never got a business loan. We opened in a medical building. My turn around from lease signing to ribbon cutting was 23 days and I wouldn’t change a thing! We have 2000 square feet that felt like it was built for us, we painted the walls green, leaded the x-ray room, and started crushing spines! My husband graduated from Logan a year to the day after me. I opened with my amazing sister Dawn by my side, and Vin doing our website and social media from Missouri, it was a crazy time. I never got to do screenings or lunch and learns before I opened, we just did it as we went. I made overhead my first month open with just the appointments from my ribbon cutting because of the relationships I built with all the AMPED principles. We have had two babies while in practice and are currently expecting our third. Becoming a mama and business owner and wife simultaneously was quite the challenge, but with the Lord, we have persevered.
Q. What have you learned in your journey?
A. No matter what you see on social media or on the AMPED top-secret page, there is a lot of blood sweat, and tears that go into this process. There will be days that you don’t think you made the right choice opening or associating and it’s because you are watching someone else’s highlight reel. What you need to focus on is that God has picked out all the people that are going to come into your office already, you just need to work on preparing yourself to serve them. That means eating, sleeping, and lots of personal care while you open.
Q. What advice do you have for other doctors?
A. Don’t forget to not attach yourself to the outcomes. You do not heal people. You remove the interference to the system that heals. If your friends have 1000 new people and are buying houses in year one, that doesn’t mean you have to! We chose to have babies and build slower. We didn’t have a build-out, all our friends did. We aren’t fancy, but we get incredible results. Be humble to the process. Accept help. Don’t try to do this alone. AMPED has been integral in our success. We wouldn’t have anything we have today without the education, support, advice, and most importantly love we get from this group. Also, please don’t forget where you came from when you are big successful docs. AMPED saves students from the poverty cycle of opening, they can’t do that without docs sending the elevator back down.
Q. What advice do you have for students?
A. GO TO CLUB. GO TO OFFICES! You have more time than you can even imagine. Build relationships with docs in the program. Become obsessed with how one or two of them practice and stalk them! Go to their office, serve, ask questions, intern there. You will never get to chance to see the machine working once you’re open. People who are best friends in this program have NEVER seen their friends’ practices in person because they all opened at the same time. Form an accountability group of people who you do everything with. You study, you screen, you prepare, you practice, you go to the conference, all together.
Q. How has AMPED helped you?
A. We would never have the success we have today without these people. There are things I don’t think I could have survived without the mentorship I have got here. We rely heavily on the community. We took a lot in the beginning years, and now we give. We love students and want success for you so much. We want students to open up confidently.
Q. What would you say to people considering joining AMPED?
A. If you want a framework on which to build on to have a massively successful office this is for you. If you want someone to hold your hand and tell you what to do, this is NOT for you. We give you the plan, you need to execute. Also, if you love being surrounded with fun, true to themselves humans, this is a pretty bomb place to be.
Q. What is your website?
